A graduate of Istanbul University’s Faculty of Business Administration (English), Mehmet Y. Özel later completed his Executive MBA at Boğaziçi University, focusing on Marketing, Finance, Business, and Information Systems. In his career, he held roles as Import – Purchasing Manager and Marketing Director at global pharmaceutical companies like Roche and Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). He earned the “Company President’s” special award for his achievements at BMS. He holds certifications from the American Management Association in Train the Trainer, Facilitation Skills, and Instructional Design. He is also accredited in Gestalt coaching, Insights personality/team inventory, PDI 360° feedback, and organizational agility.
Mehmet Y. Özel is the author of six personal development books: “Believing in Yourself – Believing in Leadership,” “1001 Forms of Leadership,” “Meaningful Leadership,” “Servant Leadership,” and “Life Is Within You,” along with three poetry books titled “Always and Always – Everything About Blue” and “The Most Indescribable Blue.” His current interests include creating original development programs (on leadership, coaching, sales, agility, etc.) that promote innovation and agility while helping people recognize and elevate their own value. He aims to keep learning, growing, and deepening in the fields of coaching and consulting.
He serves as a “Leadership Lecturer” at the Turkish Naval Academy — which he left 36 years ago — and the Naval War College, as well as at several universities, gaining further insights from these experiences. He aspires to write more articles, publish new books to share his accumulated knowledge, and reach wider audiences with his talks, leadership stories, and lessons learned.
