Halefoğlu has held various administrative roles in universities, including University Senate Membership, Associate Dean, Department Chairmanship, Technology Transfer Office Inc. Board Membership, University Education Coordinator Executive Board, Faculty Executive Board, Continuing Education Center Directorship, European Universities Continuing Education Centers (EUCEN) Board Membership, and Presidency of the Turkish Universities Continuing Education Centers Council. Throughout his 28-year academic career, he has believed in the journey of learning and development across many different fields.

In his professional field, Halefoğlu has achieved numerous successes. He won first place in Turkey in the field of energy efficiency with his patented phosphor material (phosphors activated by daylight) at a project competition organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and TÜBİTAK in 2016, representing Turkey in Silicon Valley. He also won first place in the 2017 TET-R&D project competition organized by the Turkish Electronic Materials Exporters Association. In 2023, he was awarded the Vocational Services Honor Award by the Rotary Club, which is given to highly successful professionals in their fields.

Alongside his professional academic career, Yusuf Ziya Halefoğlu holds an ICF-approved coaching certificate and EMCC individual accreditation, providing coaching and mentoring training for many years. To spread the culture of companionship, he strives to be a light to his family, students, and community by learning something new every day.
